Birthday fishes

Hello Everyone,

Happy Saturday! Today I am sharing a quick card with you that I made this morning for a friend's birthday. I finally got to play a bit more with my Mama Elephant Cosmic Stars stamp set. There is a big order of ME stamps on its way to me (YAY!), and to celebrate my happiness, I decided to use the (currently) only ME set I have :-)

I went a bit mad with different techniques on this card - nothing complex, however, so if you want to make something similar - I don't think you'd have any problems with it!

The "fishes" part is heat embossed in gold (I used the Stampendous embossing powder), the background behind the fish was made using a waterbrush and some Distress Inks. I sprinkled some water on top of the distress inks, to get a bit of a "bubble" effect. The fish were fussy cut from orange cardstock - the same one I used for the base of the card - and they got a bit of a Wink of Stella treatment. A few sequins added in the corners and voila!

Hope you like it! I have a few more ideas on similar "fishy" birthday cards, so stay tuned!

I really like the "bubble" effect - aren't Distress Inks just great!?

You can see the glitter from the Wink of Stella here.
Subtle but really nice!

I am entering the card into the following challenges:
QKR - Swimming
Inky Impressions - No design paper
Inky Chicks - Happy Birthday
Moving along with the times - Colour challenge
Mama Elephant - Inspired by photo

I fish you a lovely weekend! ;-)

Golds and pinks

Hi Everyone,

I hope that you're having some of that lovely summery weather that we're having in Ireland now, too! Truth be told, it's very humid also, and you can almost feel the high water contents in the air, but I won't complain - a bit of sun is always welcome in these parts of the world!

Maybe it's the sunshine & summer, or maybe it's something else, but I am loving the pink/purple and gold combo recently! I have been buying a few household items in this colour combo recently, and so I was not surprised at all when an idea of a card with these colours appeared in my head the other day!

You know me - I usually go rather simple, and rather flat (for postage reasons, boohoo, how I wish I could go wild & 3D more often!!)... But I am really happy with the result. A bit of Versamark (sorry, the Versamark flowers are not very visible in the photos), a bit of heat-embossing... Some glitter & a ribbon and voila! A bday card for a Lady is ready!

The card is also my DT entry over at Divas by Design, where our challenge this week is Favourite Colour Combo with Magnolias. As an exception, I got away with not using a Magnolia product, but please remember that to enter the challenge you will need to!

Without further ado, here's the card:

The stamps are by Papertrey Ink - In Bloom set & I also used the coordinating dies
The Happy Birthday stamp was a freebie with a magazine

I am entering the card into the following challenges:
Inky Impressions: No designer paper
I love Promarkers: Monochrome
Inky Chicks: Happy Birthday
Love to Create: Bright and Sunny

Hope you got a bit inspired. What is your favourite colour combo recently?

Christmassy paper piecing

Hello Everyone,

Hope that you're having a fabulous weekend! Anyone following the current football craze? :o) The last match is tonight... what will we do with our free afternoons/evenings once it all finishes?! I guess I can finally go back to crafting then, LOL! More time will be available, now I just need to find my mojo back! My head is full of ideas, but I somehow cannot make myself go to my craftroom and start creating...

Today I am sharing a Christmas card with you... Yup, that's another one this year already... Maybe one day I will finally live up to my personal challenge of making at least one Christmas card every month!

I used a Lili of the Valley stamp for this one... It's more of a "love-themed" stamp really, but with a few colour tweaks I think it's perfect for Christmas, too! This one could be great for the first Christmas of a newlywed couple, don't you think?!
For some silly reason I decided to paper-piece the clothes... My world, that was some fiddly and fussy task! My fingers are still covered in glue ;-) But I think it was worth it, have a look:

This bit of red stickles makes the tree very Christmassy! :o)

I am entering the card into the following challenges:
Inky Chicks - Christmas in July
Love to create - Fussy and fancy
QKR Stampede - Paper Piecing

Hope you like the card and got a bit of inspiration in terms of trying to "stretch" your stamps a bit... What is a love-themed stamp doesn't need to be used for Valentine's/Weddings/Anniversaries only!

Now, who are you supporting tonight...? ;-)

Have a hoot on your birthday...!

Hello Everyone,

Welcome back after a bit of a break on my behalf - I was away on holidays, celebrating my round birthday, among other things! ;-) Hope you've been having a good time, too! Any nice holiday plans?

Today's post is to share with you our new challenge theme over at Divas - this week it's THINGS WITH WINGS and we're sponsored by CRAFTIE CHARLIE. We all look forward to seeing your fab creations!

I didn't have an awful time for crafting recently, hence the card is quite simple. I used a freebie stamp from a magazine, both the cute owl and the sentiment are from the set. I paper pieced the owl and added some googly eyes to add some "fun factor" to the card.

Hope you like it!

I am entering the card into the following challenges:
Love to Create - Clean and layered
A Gem of a Challenge - Animals

I hope I find more crafty time soon - I bought some new goodies and can't wait to play with them!
