Hi Everyone,
It's been a busy couple of days, and now Easter is fast approaching - are you prepared? I sent all the cards I was meant to a few days ago, and now I just have a bit of shopping & cleaning to do, then I'm mostly done :0) I'm not going mad on decorations in the apartment, as with the Little One it's a bit tricky!
Today's card was made for a family member - a male one, I must add ;o) I feel that it is important to add this piece of information, as if it wasn't for a guy - I would have added lots of sequins and other embellishments! I tried to keep it relatively simple, however, to fit the recipient.
It's the first time that I've used my recently purchased MFT Big Balloons stencil, and I am loving the results. I think it also helps that I really enjoy getting inky fingers from playing with Distress Inks, hahaha. I inked the balloons onto some Bazzil cardstock (truth be told, I used it by mistake!), and boy was I surprised with the results - the inks blend on that paper marvellously, I had no streaks and no marks from the foam tool whatsoever! I think I have a new favourite paper/ink combo for my Distress Inks - one just needs to remember that it's not watercolour paper, so water splatters need to be somewhat applied in a controlled & not too excessive way :o)
I added some splatters of water mixed with Perfect Pearls here and there, and the sentiment is partially stamped and partially die-cut. Hubby thought that the way the sentiment was hidden and raised was really cool - getting a compliment from him on a card is a big deal, so I'll take it! (we have a completely different taste, so whilst he praises me often for the neatness or design of my cards, he rarely actually likes the images, etc.)

That is a fabulous card. I love those big bright and bold balloons. Impressed with the result of the distress ink blending. I have quite a bit of Bazzill, although it's the stuff with texture, so may not use it for this technique, but it's always good to know other papers I might use as well. Xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Ruth! It was a mistake - I wanted to take my Neenah paper, and instead I reached for the Bazzil one... But wow, I tell you, all the imperfections just smoothed out! I was so impressed and surprised :-)
