Hello Everyone,
Today, I am sharing with you my second and last entry to the MFT Card Design Superstar 2018 contest. There are three categories one can enter, but I won't have the time to enter the third one, which is Colouring Virtuoso. In fairness, my colouring skills are rather average, so maybe I'll wait another year and practise some more, before I attempt that category :o)
I love interactive cards, and whilst I don't have a lot of time for these recently (most of the time they do take quite a while to make!), I decided to try making another quadruple slider card for the purpose of the contest. Plus, let's just say that I promised one of these to someone for their very special birthday, so I kind of killed two birds with one crafty stone ;o)
This post will be rather photo heavy, so please bear with me! To get you started, here's a video showing what a quadruple slider card looks like:
And here are some photos, with close ups:
*Note: "Sto lat" - literal translation "A hundred years" is one of the ways to say "Happy Birthday" in Polish. Yes, we wish the birthday boy or girl a hundred years of life!*
As you can see, the card is very "rainbow heavy", but what can I say - I love the rainbow theme on cards!
These cute bears were absolutely perfect for this project, and I love how the "Surprise" and "So much cake, so little room" sentiments show when the slider portion is folded - it gives the hint that there might be something hidden there! :o)
On the left side, where there are gifts and a lot of empty space, is where I'm going to write some of the wishes. The remainder will go on the back.
I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. The feature I am most proud of is that the sliding panels correlate colour-wise with the front panel - have you noticed that? It's the little things, eh? :o) Also, each of the sliding panels has a golden element to it - I tried to keep that consistent also, as well as the whole colouring of the images. Truth be told, I am even happy with my colouring of the images - and that's not something I can say very often!
I am still hesitating whether or not I should embellish the front panel with some glitter/glossy accents, gems/sequins, etc, but for now I decided to keep it simple, and see what I come up in the coming weeks. What would you do?
I am entering the card into the following challenges:
MFT 2018 Card Design Superstar - Innovation Master
SSS Wednesday Challenge - Pop it up (lots of foam tape between the layers of this slider!)
SSS Work It Wednesday Challenge - Favourite Stamping Technique (one layer with options of fussy cutting)
SSS Work It Wednesday Challenge - Favourite Stamping Technique (one layer with options of fussy cutting)
So there you have it! I will be working on making a tutorial for the quadruple slider card soon, as a few of you asked for it recently, but at the moment I am really a bit short for time. I'll do my best in the coming weeks!
Have a great week ahead,
Mirella
